16/06/2017 - Germination Problems

As predicted, seeds of the varieties Silver Stars, Ukigumo, Matsukaze and Dark Purple Black have failed to germinate properly. It's always disappointing to lose expensive varieties like this.

It happens every single time I try to germinate these. The original breeder of the seeds did not recognize the problem. Although he did send me a bunch of replacement seeds. For which I am very greatful. Too bad they keep giving me the same problem.

The seeds will readily crack, usually within 10-20 hours of being soaked. They will ooze a strange gel-like substance, never develop a normal taproot, and just rot (almost instantly).

Some people say I should just plant these and they will come up. I've tried every seed so far and not a single one has come up so far in the last three years (I've tried dozens of these by now. all neatly monitored). They just rot.
