It's the 14th of august and I've still only seen 6 I.nil flowers out of 28 plants. Almost none are showing flower buds so far.
They are remarkably late this year. I've only fertilized twice this year with bloom fertilizer low in nitrogen so I doubt that would be the problem. I even decided to stop fertilizing all together. I first suspected it might be the cheaper potting soil. But I also used the same one as last year on a number of plants, and those are having just as much trouble blooming. Seeds were planted 3 days earlier than last year. The weather has been great so far, much better than last year. No clue why this might be happening.
I guess patience is key. I won't be harvesting (m)any seeds this year though.
The I. purpurea have had no trouble though and have been blooming vigorously all summer though. Same soil and conditions as the I. nil.
Crossing my fingers for september!
