28/03/2018 - 2018 Variety List

Today I present the list of varieties I will be trying to grow this year.

I've managed to collect quite a few more varieties of both Ipomoea nil and Ipomoea purpurea. I also will be growing a couple of other species which are completely new to me. Including Ipomoea obscura and Ipomoea hederifolia.

Sowing starts tomorrow. Gradually that is, since at worst it could be over six weeks until the plants can go outside, and my indoor space is very limited.

I've decided to start the Kikyo varieties first since they are slow growers and take a lot longer to establish a vine. This should give them a bit of a head-start and will use less space since they can be repotted much later to the bigger containers with trellis.

I will be using my usual method to start germinating the seeds for now. I might finally try soaking in a peroxide solution instead if "damping off" problems reoccur.
